Little Ones

Park

I had a dream I was standing by my two year old girl looking in a mirror. I gleefully lifted her and spun her around, then we looked in the mirror together and smiled at out happy faces.

Then I woke up to the real world where this toddler is really 12 years old and loves Yearbook club and playing X-Box with dad.

I never liked fall, but these past few years it’s growing on me. I think of baking and Christmases past. But mostly I feel sentimental about my little girls. Because all I ever wanted to be was a mommy,  and now one is at work and one is in college, and I’m left feeling like sand is slipping through my fingers on most days.

  1. That picture is so adorable!
And I keep looking at your header pic and then her pic and seeing how cute and alike you are.
Thanks for the fun morning and lunch :)
Oh, and I'm wondering if the list of blogs you follow is private. I couldn't get to it. I got to Ramona's following your instructions but didn't see yours.
Let's get together again some soon morning and create something!

  2. I didn't think it was private, I'll check. But don't follow as many blogs as I do. It stresses me out, and yet I can't weed some out because I like them. I just have to set the timer sometimes or I'd be on all day.

  3. Yup. I changed the setting. Prepare to be alarmed.
PS, when I put up this photo I was thinking of how much she looked like Josie.

  4. Our family certainly has some good genes. Whenever I see pictures of Jordan when she was little I always remember how cute her scratchy little voice was. Not that she isn’t cute now, of course.
And don’t worry, Arianne will get married soon and then you’ll have some cute little grandkids.

  5. Hi! Just clicked on you from the comments on Robin's post about the Fat Book Swap. This post of yours put a lump in my throat. I can so relate. My son is now 19 and my daughter is 15 and I'm not ready for it to be over. I hear it's never "over", but "sand slipping through my fingers" are beautiful words that really hit home. Looking forward to doing this swap with you! I bet you'll do a great job!!

  6. Man- I remember how little she was! I am having a hard time with Connley and his Jr High struggles, I just realize how fast he is growing up and it excites me and breaks my heart at the same time. This is a gret post for this time of the year!

And why is Hill pushing the marriage thing off to Arianne? DO NOT allow her to grow old and live in your a house a single woman! Marriages can still be arranged, you know!
    (hahaha! <3 you Hillary!)

  7. She is so sweet in that picture! I love how you can see their older faces in their little portraits, like the shadow of the person who will really emerge. What a sweetheart!
