Emma and Giveaway

I just saw my first preview of the BBC’s new Emma 2009. Here is a link to the preview on YouTube.Emma 2009

Oh, I’m so excited!!! I may learn to love Mr. Knightly after all!!!!

I had a chat with my mom today about the 2010 Jane Austen Society of North America AGM in Portland. It's all about Northanger Abbey. I am so fired up about this trip. We talked hotels, dresses, bookstores, museums etc. for quite a while this morning.

One more thing, if you haven’t entered my BLOG GIVEAWAY yet please go to the giveaway post and comment by July 15. I don’t want anyone to miss out!

I’m halfway through ‘Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict’ and I love it so far. But laundry and dinner calls……..

  3. Jonny Lee Miller is to play Mr Knightly. He is pictured above in his role as Edmund in Mirimax's version of Mansfield Park. I loved hima as Edmund. As a matter of fact, I loved all the actors in that version. Unfortunately the movie was not true to the story, especially in Fanny's characterization. Different screenplay and it would have been a dream.
I've never really liked Mr Knightly much, but I'm ready to change my mind.

  4. My mother in law just sent me a link to your blog. I love it! I, too, am a fan and had no idea a new version of Emma was coming out. Yeah, another one to add to my collection! Fun blog. Thanks for letting me visit.

  5. Do you have any idea where and when exactly it will be available to watch? I tried to search it out, but all I am coming up with is that it will be broadcast in four episodes on BBC One, which unfortunately, doesn't allow viewing in the USA. I would love more information if you've got any...

  6. The last batch of Austen shows that came out in England in 2008 were all on PBS early in 2009. They were ITV though, and not BBC, but it doesn't take long to get them over here.
I will say, however, that sometimes some lawbreaker in England will put them up on youtube for us American Jane Austen addicts to try and view before they are asked to take them down. I don't know who did it, but if you can tolerate watching in a three inch screen and eight minute segments then that is an option. I won't tell you how many times I watched Persuasion this way. I felt justified because I knew I would buy it anyway, the second it was available.
